The Counseling Department introduces the STRIKE Team at Georgia Connections Academy.

 

We are thrilled to announce the formation of the STRIKE Team, dedicated to maximizing academic achievement and ensuring successful post-secondary transitions for our students. This initiative features three critical roles: High School Graduation Coach, College Readiness Coach, and Career Pathway Readiness Coach. Each coach brings a wealth of experience and specialized skills to support our students across different grade levels.

Graduation Coach (High School)
Our Graduation Coach, Jennifer Freds, works closely with high school students to ensure they stay on track for timely graduation. The graduation coach collaborates with students, parents, and staff to develop personalized graduation plans and offers regular in-person opportunities to increase engagement. She will ensure every student has a career pathway, and help them set goals to achieve post secondary success.

College Readiness Coach (High School)
Our College Readiness Coach, Corey Debrody, is committed to guiding students towards post-secondary success. Her role focuses on potential college bound students, including those undecided about their future paths. Ms. Debrody will identify students who are college-bound and support them through the entire college admission process, including scholarship applications and financial aid planning. She will also be key to organizing college fairs, field trips, and other activities to inspire students and assist in meeting key milestones for college readiness.

Career Pathway Readiness Coach (K-8)
For our younger students, our Career Pathway Readiness Coach, Alan Clark guides students in K-5 in building future-readiness skills and examines each of the 17 career clusters through virtual and in person experiences. Middle school students develop individual graduation plans and identify career choices and facilitate hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, he will provide vital transition support for students moving from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school.
Each role within the STRIKE Team is integral to our mission at GACA. Our wonderful coaches not only provide academic support but also foster a nurturing environment where students can thrive and achieve their goals. With a commitment to data-driven strategies, personalized interventions, and strong collaboration with families and the community, the STRIKE Team is poised to make a significant impact on our students' educational journeys.
